A famous man once said that all that is needed for evil to triumph was for good men to do nothing. I cannot help but wonder if that is the reason the world is in the state it is today. My generation was taught to simultaneously be apathetic and angry, leading us to be in a constant state of contradiction. We witness the injustices of society and feel the rage that courses through us as we do so. We say, "That is wrong," "Someone should do something." or we accuse other generations of being hateful and bigoted. All the while, we *do* absolutely nothing. We have no motivation to change the world and due to the glorious Reagan administration, are too self absorbed to fully realize the consequences of inaction. We are so convinced by the mentality that nothing we do matters, that we are comfortable to wait for others to take the lead, for others to step forward.
So what do we do with this anger? We turn it on ourselves, on each other. Suicide, School Shootings, Eating Disorders, Self Mutilation, Drug and Alcohol Abuse, etc. Our anger is manifested in our self harm. We are drowning in our self pity, in our anger, in our apathy and there is no one out there willing to save us. What options do we have?
We must save ourselves. We must stop believing the lies set before us and we must stop destroying ourselves and each other. Focus our anger where it is needed....
I'll write more later, just wanted to try the blog out...
